Oh the Hair Ties

 
A while back I got some really cool hair ties online.
I thought from the picture I knew what they were made of and confirmed upon arrival.


FOE otherwise know as fold over elastic.
Back in my children’s boutique designing and selling days on eBay FOE became a trendy item to add colorful and stretchy elastic in clothes.
Most commonly FOE is used in trim in panties.
Comes in a wide array of colors and is soft and stretchy.

One day I was wearing my new pony holder and a friend asked about it.
Apparently I was trendy and didn’t even know it. :)
 A local day spa were selling them (for like $3 a piece!!)  And the local high school girls all wear them.
So went to eBay and found 17 colors and 70 yds for about $20.
They take seconds to make.
Nine inches and tie in knot.  Melt ends with lighter.
I made me a big batch (though honestly brown is my fav since it’s the color of my hair.)
And I have so much I make them for friends and their kids.


My girls wanted some of their own as well. Pink please. And lime green.

Teeny Tiny Giveaway

Hey guys!  We're in the middle of spring break here...though spring hasn't showed up yet.  Took the kids up to Chattanooga (my birth city) to the aquarium yesterday as a mini field trip.  We had a great time and the penguins I think we the unanimous favorite.  The rest of the week we're going to play and I've got a few projects, home and craft, on my to do list.  Friday, husband will take the day off and the weather is supposed to be real nice so we'll be picnic-ing and park playing.  So I won't be around here this week.  But to keep you busy I am having a little giveaway.   :)

A Surprise Custom Giveaway

Ok, so a while back (about a month) I said I'd celebrate 50 followers with a giveaway and my life was too hectic at that moment. So now there is 20 more that have joined the party. :)

So here is the low down. I want to do a kid type giveaway, but I want to make it specific to boy/girl/baby. So everyone can participate and I will decide what to make based on the individual winner. If you don't have kids (or they are too big for anything handmade) then I will make a 'me' gift instead. There will be multiple items, some fabric and maybe some not.

I have really enjoyed reading everyone's stories! So many valentine babies (or almost)! My 'baby' was born 2 years ago the 13th...yep on my birthday! She was scheduled to be induced the 15th, but had other plans. My hubby and I had plans the 13th to go to dinner, in laws on the way and my water broke that morning at 5 am! So I got to spend that Valentines day in the hospital with a spinal headache (a complication from the epidural...which didn't EVEN work!) It was kinda a blur.....

This year we are spending Valentines day having a 2 year old birthday party. BUT we have a babysitter for the 13th and are going to dinner. Figured might as well while M doesn't have a clue and my oldest is going to his 'best friend's' slumber party that night.

Soooo.... this is what I've been doing this week. Painting M's room a light pink (hard to tell with the dark lighting in this pic).

This is what is looked like before. Handmade bumper, blankets, valance and pillow by me.

So you are probably wondering why I did such a thing! Well, we're moving the girls in together by K's request. And bought bunk beds (though M will stay in her crib for a while longer).

And I bought K all the beautiful shabby chic stuff a year and half ago and decided it would be cheaper to buy another bedding set to match that than buy 2 new bedding sets/accessories.

The room is actually completely painted now and bunk beds assembled, but it's still a work in progress trying to fit all of K's stuff in! I'm really loving the light, pale pink compared to the awful pepto pink I tried last time.

Anyway, enough about me, I know you want to know who won! I wrote everyone's names on slips of paper and drew a name....my comments aren't numbered and I was afraid of messing that up and there were a few double comments.

Isn't it LOVEly... my first GIVEAWAY!

Valentines Day is one of my favorite holidays. AND my birthday is the day before (the 13th) so in honor of that I decided to do my first giveaway!

Here it is! This was SO fun to do! If there is decent response I will definitely have to do this again! So what is it?? A basket full of goodies!
The pink plastic tote basket is a Target dollar section find (I bought like 9 or so a month ago to save for future girly girl parties). In it is the following:

Lined zippered pouch made by me and cupcake key fob...made by me!

It wouldn't be Valentines without flowers and candy so included is a pot of daisy pens, made by me and my favorite truffles (don't worry I got myself some too!) I REALLY wanted to make a homemade sweet treat, but I felt it kinda risky to send such a thing through the mail and it make it there still edible and all.

And heart shaped strawberry shortcake soap, made by me and a rice heating pad. The heating pad is long enough to wrap around the back of your neck/on your shoulders, or use it for tummy aches or just to stick under the sheets for a toasty bed! Just microwave 2 minutes to heat. The inner pouch is removable to wash the cover. I actually made the liner with a knee high woman's sock. I originally planned to make leg warmers, but made the girl's different ones. So I though it would make a simple, cozy heating pad. :)

And lastly, I included the kids. Some homemade glitter playdough and a heart shaped cookie cutter. :)
